Phil Kauffman

I had a career in the Air Force, and another career as an Administrative Patent Judge.

My Air Force career was over 20 years, mostly as a Judge Advocate. I personally prosecuted 15 cases, and supervised counsel for many other cases. Serving as an advisor to military commanders for both disciplinary matters and operational activities taught me to know my client’s needs. At the United State Patent and Trademark Office, I was an Administrative Patent Judge for 14 years. I made more than one thousand decisions on panels of three Judges, including both ex parte appeals and America Invents Act proceedings. I supervised a section of Judges and ran the training program for the Judges and clerks for over 15 years.

I founded Sage Mediation and Arbitration because it allows me to put my experience to work helping people solve problems. We are a veteran owned business.
